Based on reports, Fulham midfielder Sander Berge emerged as a primary target for Old Trafford. The 28-year-old impressed during Norway's run to the World Cup quarter-finals. Berge could cost under £40m, offering a significantly cheaper solution than alternative candidates Eduardo Camavinga and Manu Koné.
Berge remains under contract at Craven Cottage until 2029 following previous Premier League spells with Sheffield United and Burnley. Fulham have not indicated whether they would sell the midfielder before the transfer window closes.
